What is the Information Transparency Act of 2009?
- Passed after the untimely death of Michael Hyatt, the Information Transparency Act of 2009 ensures that all citizens of Drydenne are allowed access to police reports and other pertinent documentation associated with cases considered to be of interest to the public. These include closed and ongoing investigations with no emergent leads within a five year period, colloquially dubbed 'cold cases.' Dedicated in memory of Hyatt, the law came into action after a unanimous vote a year after the infamous cave exploring incident in the Regency Mines' abandoned quarry. Spearheaded by David Scoresby, retired aeronautics professor and part time consultant to the Drydenne Historical Society, the act aims to ensure that citizens of Drydenne are able to make informed decisions to protect themselves and their loved ones. 'Had such measures been active at the time of the tragedy, it may have been avoided,' Scoresby is noted for saying at a ten year anniversary speaking event at City Hall.
